If you’ve ever been to a Rosie and The Riveters show, chances are you’ve heard us talk about our KIVA donations during our (hilarious!) commercial break. Since this is something we believe in and lend 20% of our merch sales to, I thought I’d share a little bit about the KIVA with you here.
Basically, KIVA is a non-profit organization that facilitates the transfer of money from lenders to borrowers in 79 countries around the world. They believe that if given access to safe and affordable financial capitol, it is possible for a person or group to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. KIVA made a great little video that explains their role in microfinance loans. You can watch the video here:
When we lend money through KIVA, we have chosen to specifically lend money to women or women’s projects. Just like Rosie the Riveter, we want to support and lift up other women to succeed in their own ways and we’re happy to be doing this through KIVA. The KIVA website not only allows you to donate, but also lets you see, read, and get updates about the projects you’ve supported.
